About The Position

Designs major components or major portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal. Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development. Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures. Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning. Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers. This position is for a project lead on the E33 Alteration Installation Team (AIT). 75%-100% of travel is required for this position. Candidate should have an extensive knowledge in the functions and operations of the AIT team. Candidate should have a comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of the hull treatment installation process, maintenance, and requirements. They should possess skills for organizing, overseeing, and leading projects and teams both at NNS and public Navy yards. Act as an advisor to management and customers on design, material, and project development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree and 5 years of related experience; 4 years of related exempt experience can be substituted for Bachelor's Degree; 8 years of non-related exempt experience can be substituted for Bachelor's Degree; 12 years of non-exempt, Manufacturing, Military, Shipbuilding or Trades experience can be substituted for Bachelor's Degree.
  • Extensive knowledge in the functions and operations of the AIT team.
  • Comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of the hull treatment installation process, maintenance, and requirements.
  • Skills for organizing, overseeing, and leading projects and teams both at NNS and public Navy yards.

  • Willing to work multiple shifts and weekends
