About The Position

The Engineering Change Specialist is a pivotal role within SoundOff Signal, responsible for managing the comprehensive process of engineering changes. This position ensures that all modifications to products, parts, and processes are meticulously documented, reviewed, and implemented in accordance with technical, regulatory, and customer requirements. The specialist will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, quality assurance, and supply chain, to facilitate smooth execution of changes while maintaining compliance with industry standards and company policies. In this role, the Engineering Change Specialist will oversee the entire engineering change process, starting from the initial request through to final implementation. This includes reviewing and evaluating Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) to ensure completeness, accuracy, and feasibility. The specialist will coordinate with engineering teams to assess the impact of proposed changes on product design, manufacturing processes, and quality standards, ensuring that all engineering changes are thoroughly documented, including necessary updates to drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs). The position also involves managing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), ensuring they are properly approved and communicated to all relevant stakeholders. The Engineering Change Specialist will apply CM2 methodologies to the process, or demonstrate a willingness to learn these methodologies. Additionally, the role requires close collaboration with production, quality, procurement, supply chain, sales, and marketing teams to implement changes without disrupting operations. The specialist will facilitate inter-departmental meetings to address any issues or concerns related to engineering changes and perform impact analyses on proposed changes regarding cost, schedule, inventory, and product performance. Regular updates and reports will be provided to the Engineering Change Board regarding the status of engineering changes and their business impact. The specialist will also identify and mitigate risks associated with engineering changes to minimize disruptions and ensure smooth implementation. Participation in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the engineering change process is expected, along with identifying opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce lead times, and improve communication across teams. Training and support for team members on engineering change procedures and best practices will also be part of the responsibilities.
