About the position

The Engineering Associate 1 (Distribution) position at Johnson Service Group involves supporting distribution engineering tasks within a power utility context. This role is designed for individuals with a strong technical background in engineering, particularly in distribution systems, and requires effective communication and project management skills. The position is a six-month assignment based in Savannah, GA, with a focus on collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assist in distribution engineering tasks and projects.
• Communicate effectively with customers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
• Write and execute switching orders as needed.
• Utilize engineering software systems for project execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET Accredited School.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology or Math/Science.
• Professional Engineer's License (PE) in lieu of the above bachelor's degree.
• Previous distribution engineering experience is a plus.
• Proficient with MS Office products and related engineering software systems.
• Strong technical engineering skills and understanding of power systems.
• Knowledge of general engineering and construction principles.
• Familiarity with electrical system operations and distribution systems.
• Prior experience in writing and executing switching orders preferred.
• Working knowledge of ARMS, JETS, Designer/GIS, CSS, Socket, DistView, TCMS Web, NJUNS, EDEN, OUA, and OFS preferred.
• Knowledge of the Franchise Manual, Distribution Bulletins, and Engineering Handbook/Specifications preferred.
• Ability to prioritize and organize work effectively.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with power utility companies.
