About The Position

We are seeking an Engineering and Design Lead – Remote. This remote position is based out of our Oak Ridge, TN office. Your role Interacts day to day with members of the design team and licensing team. Assures that any modifications to existing uranium conversion processes have been fully considered in process design modifications while satisfying facility licensing requirements, leading to regulatory approvals. Such approvals will allow the use of the refurbished production lines. Participates in evaluation and design of uranium conversion process modifications, process safety and consequence analyses activities. Conducts in-depth materials and process chemistry research, when necessary, with respect to uranium conversion to optimize the production process. Provides input to the design team in developing plant modifications at two separate uranium conversion plants looking to expand capacity while optimizing material assay. Leads small to moderately sized design teams to meet project mission objectives with respect to uranium conversion manufacturing optimization. Exhibits Subject Matter Expert level understanding of nuclear materials conversion and fuel fabrication. Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience required to support development of uranium conversion technology.
  • Ability to lead small to moderately sized design teams to meet project mission objectives with respect to uranium conversion manufacturing optimization.
  • Exhibit Subject Matter Expert level understanding of nuclear materials conversion and fuel fabrication.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are mandatory.
  • Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary project teams in a dynamic, fast-moving project environment.
  • Ability to present reliable technical findings in a short turn-around work environment.
  • Focuses on optimizing desired product material properties resulting in uranium products being manufactured to meet American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and product market standards.
  • Experience conducting metallurgical and/or nuclear materials in both research and industrial production settings.
  • Possess experience with facility refurbishment, specifically those supporting metallurgical manufacturing processes.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.

  • Post-graduate degree in Metallurgical Engineering preferred.
