About The Position

Under the supervision of the Base Civil Engineer, this position supports the facilities management team by providing journey level, skilled sub-professional engineering work in the office and field to assist with capital improvement projects and planning. This is a civilian position and does not require military service affiliation. The Washington Military Department combines unique talents to create safer communities and ensure recovery from emergencies. Requirements

• Four years of experience performing skilled sub-professional engineering work; OR
• A Bachelor's degree with a major study in engineering; OR
• A Certificate as an Engineer-in-training; OR
• Land Surveyor's license.

Nice To Haves

• Four years of experience involving engineering techniques.
• Knowledge of principles and operation of surveying equipment; conventional and GPS.
• Skills & Abilities to perform standard and GPS surveys.
• Ability to perform various engineering formulas, construction methods, engineering and/or architectural standards.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, prepare, and accomplish work in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) and Geographic Information System (GIS) database(s).
• Provide in-house drafting and design support for the Base Civil Engineer (BCE).
• Retrieve engineering data from computer files and paper files to prepare for technical reports.
• Assist with estimating scope of work and requirements, perform cost estimates for design and construction projects.
• Lead survey crews and operate standard GPS survey equipment and collect survey information.
• Complete topographic surveys, GPS surveys, construction surveys and facility inventories.
• Accomplish project management duties for moderately complex construction, repair, and maintenance projects.
• Assist with monitoring construction contracts.
• Record daily progress of construction in written and pictorial media.
