What You Will Do: As an Engineer, you will play an essential role within our Engineering department, reporting to the Sr. Manager of Engineering. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Distribution Perform mechanical/civil engineering work on moderately complex projects in the design of distribution and/or transmission pipelines. Analyze engineering data, plan construction layout, and prepare cost estimates on assigned projects. Perform system analysis, flow modeling, and recommend system improvements. Calculate and/or analyze operations for economics, increased efficiency, new methods, and quality of special projects. Review system reinforcement projects and develop cost estimates, designs, and specifications for required relocations and extensions. Monitor, minimize and maintain records of all projects for assigned area. Provide necessary engineering coordination to minimize company costs and contractor hold ups. Develop uniform standards in the following areas: Construction Engineering. Materials/Product Specifications. Operations and Maintenance. Transmission Review regulator station over-pressure protection and gate station capacity calculations in accordance with the PHMSA. Develop and communicate equipment changes that are needed. Perform a variety of moderately complex work in planning and designing meter and regulator stations, gate stations, and transmission line projects. Provide direct assistance in drafting and updating ENSTAR's emergency shut-in plan and the Integrity Management Plan. Project Manager for relocation projects or large maintenance projects including responsibility for quality, completion, and budget constraints. Environmental Recommend appropriate action to assure conformance with federal, state and municipal legislation and regulations regarding environmental control. Assist in the overall planning and installation of equipment revision relating to the environment. General Provide technical support to District Operations. Investigate technical operational problems and recommend solutions. Create designs and specify equipment for new and replacement projects after reviewing necessary parameters.. Excellent project management skills to ensure timely and accurate completion of various construction projects. Possess organizational skills required to set up complex project estimates, bills of materials, budgets. Review, become familiarized, and be able to provide technical input when contracts related to pipeline work are being established Under general supervision, perform the following tasks: Perform project management and review bids for introductory level projects. Prepare cost estimates as needed. Develop bills of materials (BOM's), work with vendors to establish quotes, and assist in procurement of project materials Ensure that project permitting and ROW requirements are in place prior to construction. Design and develop standards and work procedures in one or more of the job functions listed above. Complete specifications on purchase orders, work orders, and review invoices. Research specific engineering topics and products to resolve technical inquiries. Provide technical support as needed. Perform calculations and/or maintain documentation for regulatory code compliance or departmental records. Review specific engineering topics and products to resolve technical inquiries. Provide technical support as needed. Evaluate existing equipment and systems for efficiency and identify possible improvements. Provide support on various project teams for the improvement of ENSTAR's systems or technology as related to engineering. Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals and other literature and attending related seminars, conferences and other opportunities for professional development. Participate in internal and external training as required. Prepare regular and special reports and projects using established policies and procedures. Perform Duty Supervisor responsibilities. Perform other duties as required by the department. Travel to other work sites as necessary. Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering.
  • EIT (or FE) designation. Should be progressing toward PE license.
  • Three or more years related work experience in at least one of the job functions listed.
  • Valid Alaska Driver's License and be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the ENSTAR's Driving Policy
  • Ability to pass a drug, background, credit, past employment, and driving record screening.
