The Industrial Engineer position at FedEx is responsible for implementing manpower, systems, and corporate projects aimed at reducing operating expenses, increasing revenues, and improving customer service. The role involves participating in the development and implementation of operating plans, conducting studies, preparing data, and developing models and analytical tools for engineers and operations. The engineer will transform business processes and operational tools to enable global excellence, prepare, analyze, and monitor short-term and long-range plans, and provide analysis regarding operations, expansion, procedures, GSE, staffing, equipment, regulatory and governmental agencies, vehicles, and products for operations. The position also requires ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and governing authorities, monitoring and recommending improvements in productivity, service, and cost performance, and serving on special study teams to investigate and implement projects related to productivity and performance.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of operating plans.
  • Conduct studies, prepare data, and develop models and analytical tools for engineers and operations.

  • Ensure all documentation complies with FedEx requirements and processes.
  • Monitor, analyze, and recommend ways to improve productivity, service, and cost performance.
  • Serve on special study teams established to investigate and implement projects related to productivity and performance.
  • Support engineering projects and studies at the direction of engineering management.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies, business and management techniques, philosophies, and methodologies.
  • Participate in and support projects and studies in support of objectives.
  • Provide planning and organization of task assignments, priorities, schedules, and activities for initiatives.
  • Provide project plans, communication plans, and project status to stakeholders.
  • Provide requirement specifications, solution design, system development and testing, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in studies designed to implement sound, innovative engineering concepts into operations, systems, and customer solutions.
  • Participate in the evaluation of capital and expense requests.
  • Provide input for the annual and long-range budget processes.
  • Develop project and operational budgets based on recommendations for cost savings.
  • Collect, analyze, and report financial and operational indicators for corporate initiatives.
  • Prepare and present business justifications in support of the funding approval process.
  • Provide technical training to personnel through workshops, seminars, on-the-job training sessions, and one-on-one sessions.
  • Communicate between operations and corporate departments to provide technical and local expertise related to corporate or department initiatives and operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience required.
  • Strong engineering and analytical skills.
  • Strong systems and computer knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to create operating and budgetary plans and implement.
  • Knowledge to create business and operational tools.
  • Ability to develop models for engineers and operations.
  • Project management skills required.
