Job Summary The Wastewater Plant Maintenance Engineer and Operator shall operate and maintain the equipment, controls, systems and machines for the Chemical Recovery Systems, Waste Treatment Plant, City water treatment and discharge under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager.

Requirements

  • Must work in a safe and efficient manner and follow all safety procedures including the use of safety equipment.
  • Basic computational skills required.
  • Simple math reasoning required.
  • Must demonstrate good judgement when carrying out duties as assigned.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot problems and be persistent until a solution is found.
  • Must be willing to ask for assistance when the process is unclear.
  • A High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a production setting involving electronics, instrumentation, refrigeration, electrical, and general mechanical.
  • English is required as the written and spoken language.
  • Must obtain and maintain a forklift license.
  • Must obtain medical clearance to use respirator and maintain certification.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with Wastewater treatment systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and Enforcing all Safety procedures are being executed along with trainings.
  • Must be able to operate and train employees on CMMS.
  • Maintain, Operate, and repair all Waste Treatment Plant equipment: pumps, evaporators, tanks, valves, etc.
  • Maintain and repair all support equipment: Waste Recovery tanks, transfer equipment, Wastewater Evaporator, DAF, holding and treatment tanks, Wastewater loadout equipment, sewer meters, conductivity meters, water meters, pH probes, level sensors, etc.
  • Must obtain medical clearance to use respirator and maintain certification.
  • Must have a working knowledge of and experience in waste plant maintenance and operations.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of water discharge permit(s), the critical parameters for water discharge to the city and for high strength waste.
  • Handling of chemicals for support equipment operation. Chemical testing of water, condensate, plant process water.
  • Daily key wastewater readings.
  • Complete Wastewater loadouts and scheduling.
  • Calibrations to drain analytical equipment
  • Maintain & support Waste RO equipment
  • Fabrication and manufacturing of equipment for production needs; product and process piping, sanitary equipment, steam lines, chemical lines, pneumatic lines, etc.
  • Documentation of all schematic and diagram changes to keep plant record current.
  • Responsible for working with a minimum amount of supervision in all key areas.
  • Responsible for reporting on a daily basis work orders and activity reports.
  • Responsible for all work being done in a timely fashion and done properly.
  • It is necessary that maintenance engineers work well with employees throughout the plant.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance at work.
  • Follow all company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, orderly, and neat work area.
  • Complete all paperwork neatly and correctly.
  • Must have the ability to get along with co-workers, management personnel, customers, vendors, and employees in accordance with the company policies and working rules while ensuring a harmonious and conducive work environment.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute towards a quality environment.
  • Excellent regular full time attendance in support of company objectives.
  • Use initiative and judgment in making decisions, keeping with California Dairies, Inc. best interests.
  • Report all possible failures to Maintenance Manager.
  • Support and enforce SQF / QA, GMP, Safety policies and procedures, and production needs. “Food Safety and Quality” are the responsibilities of this position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
