About The Position

The Senior Project Engineer applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices across broad areas of assignments and related fields. This role utilizes advanced techniques to modify or extend theories and practices in sciences and disciplines to complete assignments. The Sr. Project Engineer will keep informed of new methods and developments affecting his or her organization and recommend new practices or changes in emphasis of programs, while working on programs of limited complexity and scope. They will also apply knowledge and expertise acquired through progressive experience to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions. This role will be managing engineering projects and /or programs and supporting existing Project Managers. The successful candidate should reside in California.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with electronic communication, including e-mail and text, as well as standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact with other staff
  • Lead project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments
  • Possess the leadership skills to navigate complex challenges and solutions
  • Represent the organization and maintain liaison with individuals and related organizations
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program
  • 8+ years of prior experience
  • Engaged in life-long learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or equivalent
  • California PE, equivalent, or willing to obtain within 1 year
  • Experience producing drawings with CAD software
  • Experience leading technical discipline teams
  • California Professional Engineer (PE), or willing to obtain within 1 year
  • Member of a professional practice organization, national board member or officer, or national technical or policy committee member

Responsibilities

  • CAD Design: Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create detailed drawings, plans, and layouts for rail infrastructure and related components.
  • Technical Expertise: Apply knowledge of rail design principles to solve complex engineering challenges, including developing detailed construction cost estimates and project specifications.
  • Technical Support: Collaborate with a team of engineers to provide technical support in the development of rail projects, ensuring design meets quality and client standards.
  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data relevant to rail projects.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers and project managers, to ensure seamless project execution and compliance with design requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure designs are error-free and meet client standards.
  • Mentorship: Act as a mentor to junior engineers and designers, providing guidance and support to promote their professional growth.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned or required to meet business needs.
  • Supervise all staff necessary to complete assignments
  • Review and approve scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments
  • Prepare proposals to provide professional services
  • Review operational procedures to ensure compliance with applicable policies and performance measures
