Engineer - Transportation
About The Position
For most of the public, roadways are the most tangible, visible, and relevant piece of infrastructure in our daily lives. Well-designed roadways lead to quick commutes while poor designs can result in confusion, collisions, or even fatalities. HEI has a diverse history of successful roadway projects, both rural and urban, that provide lasting value to their communities. On a daily basis, our team sees roadway projects through every stage of development, from conception to construction. We are seeking a Transportation Engineer with 3-6 years’ experience to join our Transportation-Roadway team in our Eden Prairie office. In this position, you will support and learn from our transportation project managers in the successful completion of pedestrian, highway and bridge projects. This role is an excellent career development opportunity for someone who has experience in transportation civil engineering design and construction and is ready to grow in their next role.
Requirements
- An ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related Engineering degree
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the design and construction of state MnDOT and MN CSAH highway projects preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Authorized to work in the United States permanently without the requirement of sponsorship at any point in the future. Sponsorship is not available for this position
Nice To Haves
- Minnesota Professional Engineer license preferred
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a team of engineers from project development through preliminary and final design of urban and rural roadways and bridges for local, state and federal clients
- Assist project teams with the development of plans, specifications, engineer’s estimates, presentations and technical reports
- Represent Houston Engineering, Inc in project stakeholder communications and general public engagement
- Develop project economics analysis associated with benefit/cost, project value, budgets, and funding opportunities
- Support professional growth of less-experienced staff through teaching technical design skills
