About The Position

Are you interested in a career exploring solutions to a rapidly expanding power grid? Join LCRA’s Transmission Planning team as a Transmission Planning Engineer and play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the transmission system. As an Electrical Engineer with expertise in power systems, you will be part of a team that conducts detailed engineering studies using state-of-the-art analysis tools and plans transmission projects that will shape the LCRA TSC and ERCOT transmission system of the future. You will also contribute to the development and maintenance of network planning models and conduct near-term and long-term planning studies to explore various system improvements, including new technologies such as large data center integration and 765-kV infrastructure build-out. The ideal candidate for this position has experience conducting Steady-State and Dynamic Stability assessments. At LCRA, Transmission Planning Engineers work with project teams to ensure transmission projects are designed, coordinated, and executed in compliance with engineering standards and project timelines. Transmission Planning Engineers also support Regulatory Compliance activities, such as the preparation and development of Texas Public Utility Commission (PUC) Certificates of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) applications for new transmission projects. Finally, we are heavily involved with industry changing efforts through involvement in ERCOT, EPRI, NERC, and NATF working groups. These working groups cover many topics including voltage performance, thermal loading of transmission elements, generation deliverability to load centers, large load integration, and other emerging transmission system technologies. We also act subject matter experts for NERC Reliability Standards including TPL-001, FAC-002, CIP-014, and MOD-026/027.
