Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or engineering technology.
  • Proof of passing the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE) and one year of full-time engineering experience.
  • Qualifying degrees include Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, and others listed in the job description.
  • One year of full-time engineering experience with transportation projects related to highways, railroads, bridges, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CADD software for design purposes.
  • Familiarity with traffic engineering and safety studies.
  • Knowledge of construction materials and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or check designs for bridges and other structural components.
  • Prepare and/or check layouts for entire bridge structures.
  • Assist in field inspection of project sites or existing bridges and structures.
  • Prepare 3D plans for highway and bridge projects using CADD.
  • Assist with the preparation of project reports, development of engineer's estimates, project scheduling, and gathering site data.
  • Develop notes and specifications for specialty work.
  • Provide technical expertise in design, construction, and maintenance programs.
  • Conduct physical inspections and tests of construction in progress and on completion.
  • Prepare inspection reports about construction progress and contractor compliance with specifications.
  • Coordinate activities of contractors, sub-contractors, and local governments to assure contract progress.
  • Propose and implement Transportation Systems Management and Operations to advance performance goals.
  • Perform traffic engineering and safety studies, including field measurements and computer modeling.
