About The Position

The Engineer - Technical Services/Manufacturing Science position at Lilly is responsible for providing technical support for manufacturing operations during the second shift. This role involves collaboration with various departments including engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs to ensure efficient production processes. The engineer will monitor production data, troubleshoot issues, assist in process transfers, and author technical documentation, all while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• BS degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related science/engineering discipline.
• Experience in a cGMP biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in fermentation/cell culture and/or protein purification manufacturing.
• Process and equipment knowledge of cell culture or purification functions.
• Thorough understanding of GMP requirements for large-scale manufacturing facilities.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and analyzes production data to support daily manufacturing operations.
• Troubleshoots issues in conjunction with Process Teams and manufacturing staff.
• Assists in the transfer of processes from development to production facilities.
• Authors technical reports supporting process control strategies and technology transfers.
• Writes and revises standard operating procedures and manufacturing documentation.
• Works directly with manufacturing staff to share process knowledge and assist in training.
• Designs laboratory experiments for process troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
• Supports the start-up and validation of new facilities and process equipment.
• May lead or assist in the planning and execution of process validation activities.
• Ensures compliance with safety and regulatory expectations.
