The Engineer, Technical Operations, Gas System Operations is responsible for field controls, field measurement, and the electro-mechanical and traceability of interfaces. This role is accountable for the engineering, quality assurance (QA), installation, and troubleshooting of field RTU enclosure components and peripherals. The individual will serve as the Gas system operations Subject Matter Expert (SME) for critical field assets and may also serve as a team or SME for unique/special system assignments related to Capital work projects.

  • Designs and installs technical components to minimize risk and improve safety and reliability.
  • Adheres to Gas system operations strategies, design constructability, and installation best practices.
  • Collaborates with internal and external technical SMEs on multiple complex projects.
  • Coordinates with stakeholders to restore critical Gas system infrastructure.
  • Develops documentation of critical Gas field components and system installation maintenance packages.
  • Responsible for SCADA HMI wire frame schematic design creation and QA.
  • Conducts, analyzes, and repairs field electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Specifies and procures materials and equipment for Gas System Operations objectives.
  • Installs, analyzes, and programs field PLCs and coordinates with SCADA Engineers.
  • Ensures safety of personnel by conducting effective safety meetings and ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Creates documentation for system operations.
  • May be required to work extended hours to support project needs.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years related experience.
  • Requires practical knowledge and experience maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting field measurement and controls.
  • Knowledge of utility constructability, Gas distribution system design, operations, maintenance, and safety standards.
  • Project and schedule management skills including computerized work and materials management.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret information to propose decisions.
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of energy physics processes and energy distribution preferred.
  • Knowledge of 49 CRF Part 192 code preferred.
  • Ability to read GIS mapping systems and understand Gas pressure and flow relationships.
  • Knowledge of cyber security and critical systems protocols preferred.
