Advance Navy mission networks as an Engineer with GDIT. You’ll support Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC Pacific Codes 55131/55132/55133) delivering and sustaining Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) and related tactical network capabilities across ashore, afloat, subsurface, airborne, mobile, and joint environments. This hands-on role blends systems, network, and software/hardware integration with rigorous testing, configuration management, and cybersecurity best practices for Program Management Warfare (PMW-160) Tactical Networks.

  • Plan, build, integrate, and baseline CANES lab/field configurations (rack/stack, power, fiber/copper, VLANs, routing, virtualization) and produce 'as-built' packages.
  • Develop and execute test procedures for Developmental Test & Evaluation (DT&E) and System Operational Verification Tests (SOVTs); support Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs) and capture objective evidence.
  • Harden Windows/Linux and virtualized hosts (VMware ESXi/NSX) using Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs); run Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scans and remediate findings under Risk Management Framework (RMF) guidance.
  • Produce and maintain engineering artifacts: block/rack elevations, interface control, cable running sheets, Bill of Materials (BOM), site survey checklists, Installation Design Package (IDP) inputs, and Base Electronic System Engineering Plans (BESEPs).
  • Analyze network performance (Wireshark, iperf, NetFlow), troubleshoot L1–L3 issues, and recommend Quality of Service (QoS)/routing changes; contribute to Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Networks (GPON) and wireless enclave designs.
  • Participate in Configuration Control Board (CCB)/Problem & Trouble Report Board (PTRB); manage hardware/software baselines and assets in CMPro; author and track changes/Trouble Reports.
  • Coordinate with NIWC Pacific engineers, Program Executive Office Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (PEO C4I)/PMW-160, shipyards, and Fleet users; brief status, risks, and mitigations to Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)/Working IPTs (WIPTs).
  • Draft inputs to System Engineering Plans (SEPs), test plans/reports, and readiness briefs; maintain disciplined documentation in Jira/ServiceNow/Confluence or equivalent.
  • Support site installs and upgrades on ships/shore facilities; execute checkout, fault isolation, and turnover to operations with clean hand-offs.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • 2+ years in systems/network engineering for enterprise or tactical environments, including hands-on integration, test, and documentation; familiarity with Navy programs (e.g., CANES/ADNS) or similar.
  • Networking: TCP/IP, VLANs, routing/switching, QoS, High-Level Data Link Control (HDLC)/Serial basics; Cisco IOS/NX-OS fundamentals.
  • Compute/Virtualization: Windows/Linux administration, Active Directory/Group Policy, VMware ESXi/virtual networking.
  • Tools: Wireshark, iperf, Visio, Git, scripting (PowerShell/Bash/Python).
  • Engineering rigor: requirements tracing, test procedure development, defect tracking, and configuration control.
  • IAT II baseline (e.g., Security+ CE) or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • BS/BA in Electrical/Computer/Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; equivalent military training/experience considered.
  • CCNA/CCNP, VMware VCP, RHCSA/RHCE, Linux+, or similar vendor certifications.
  • Experience with GPON, wireless enclave security, satellite communications (SATCOM), and encryption devices (e.g., TACLANE) in classified networks.
  • RMF/eMASS artifact familiarity; participation in Cyber Command Readiness Inspection (CCRI) preparations.
  • Exposure to Requirements Management (DOORS), Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) (Cameo), and STIG automation (Ansible).
  • Shipboard installation experience (SHIPALT/IDP/FRCB packages) and readiness events (DT/OT).
  • ITIL Foundation and experience with CMPro, Jira/ServiceNow.
  • Comprehensive benefits and wellness packages.
  • 401K with company match.
  • Competitive pay and paid time off.
  • Full-flex work week to own your priorities at work and at home.
  • Paid Family Leave program providing up to 160 hours of paid leave in a rolling 12 month period for eligible employees.
  • 15 days of paid leave per calendar year for vacations, personal business, and illness.
  • 10 paid holidays per year.
