This role ensures engineering activities align with program standards, Navy cybersecurity requirements, and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) practices. The engineer also supports shipboard and lab-based troubleshooting, configuration management, and stakeholder coordination to ensure secure, reliable system deployment and sustainment.

  • Provide comprehensive systems engineering support across the software and system lifecycle in accordance with SEPs, CMMI/IEEE standards, and Agile development practices.
  • Support requirements analysis, system design, integration activities, and traceability using tools such as DOORS, Git, and SharePoint.
  • Use issue-tracking systems (Jira/GitLab) to monitor progress, document defects, and support engineering workflows.
  • Apply networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, UDP, SNMP, and industrial protocols (e.g., Modbus, VME bus), to analyze and support NCS architectures.
  • Execute smoke, integration, functional, end-to-end, acceptance, and performance testing; perform static and dynamic code analysis; troubleshoot defects across hardware/software interfaces.
  • Perform configuration and version control activities, including baseline management, change package development, and participation in peer reviews.
  • Develop and update installation procedures, system operating guides, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Provide shipboard and lab support including system configuration, PLC/firmware/OS loading, wiring/sensor troubleshooting, terminal box verification, and operator training.
  • Maintain configuration management for all system-level installations and updates.
  • Ensure adherence to Navy cybersecurity policies, RMF requirements, program quality standards, and mandated training protocols.
  • Support remote and on-site engineering activities, including potential CONUS/OCONUS travel.

  • Proficiency in control systems, hardware/software troubleshooting, and interpretation of electrical/network diagrams.
  • Experience with test planning, execution, performance analysis, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with security analysis and supporting cybersecurity-related engineering assessments.
  • Strong documentation, peer-review, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools including Jira, GitLab, Git, DOORS, and SharePoint.
  • Experience using CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Tekton), code analysis tools (SonarQube, Coverity), and virtualization platforms (Xen, VMware, VirtualBox).
