About The Position

Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines is looking for an esteemed Maintenance Engineering Supervisor. If you are a hands-on type of person who wants to supervise a team of incredible engineers at a beautiful property, this is the position for you. We have 394 guest rooms, 22 meeting spaces and over 65,000 square feet of event space. Find us on the 18th hole of the Torrey Pines Golf Course, with views of the Pacific Ocean from our rooms with balconies and patios. Explore the natural beauty of Torrey Pines State Reserve nearby, with a walking trailhead to Torrey Pines State Beach one mile away. The Engineering Supervisor supervises and performs the duties of the Property Operations/Engineering staff to maintain the physical functionality of facility including guest rooms, public space and heart-of-the-house areas. And to maximize profitability. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

Requirements

  • Have knowledge of general safe operating procedures.
  • Be skilled in using electrical testing instruments.
  • Have ability to life, grasp, and/or carry supplies or equipment weighing up to 75lbs and climb stairs and ladders, working at heights up to approximately 25 feet.
  • Be able to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping and kneeling.
  • Have hearing ability to respond to beeper communication.
  • Have visual ability to identify and locate existing problems.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Director/Manager in training, supervising, scheduling, and evaluating department staff.
  • Ensure staff compliance with all safety/loss prevention standards and regulations.
  • Assisting in day-to-day operations and driving workflow.
  • Reviewing quality of work of team members and contractors.
  • Taking lead on water treatment and PM schedule.
  • Assisting in scheduling and managing Fire, Life, Safety inspections.
  • Use up-selling techniques to promote hotel services and facilities and to maximize room occupancy.
  • Respond to guest inquiries and requests and resolve issues in a timely, friendly and efficient manner.
  • Field guest complaints, conduct research and resolve and negotiate solutions for guest satisfaction.
  • Receive, input, retrieve and relay messages to guests.
