This position is for structural engineering of future submarines. Technical work of complex applications with the ability to recommend technical direction for work assignments. Work lightly monitored by senior engineers/management for accuracy and completeness. More complex analysis and tool usage demonstration for work to be performed. Candidate’s skill set shall include the ability to create and present presentations to customers with minor guidance and self-preparation. For white papers and reports, candidate will be either a contributor, author or lead, depending on task size. If lead of a task, primary responsibility will be technical oversite of a small team with little written contribution. Appropriate level of technical acumen to verify other engineer’s work. Author formalized calculation packages documenting work performed in a conclusive and succinct manner. Leadership skill development guiding technical work of junior engineers. Finite element analysis software usage includes Femap/NASTRAN and/or Abaqus. The RoleAnalyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs. Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis. Tools utilized may include CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer and a variety of software applications. The AUKUS SSNA Program is seeking a strong engineer to support the development of the next generation of fast attack submarines. This position will be responsible for working collaboratively with other key stakeholders throughout the SSNA program and will interface with UK’s BAE Systems integrated delivery teams (IDTs) to help design portions of the UK and Australian SSNA nuclear-powered submarine. The engineer will need to:     · Engage with shipyards, customers and other stakeholders to collect feedback for design incorporation.     · Have flexibility with work assignments and may perform duties outside of traditional discipline work scope.    · Work with multi-discipline teams on incorporation of SSNA design principles    · Solve complex spatial integration issues while meeting system and overall ship requirements    · Be able to effectively communicate with both internal leadership and external customer(s).    · Be prepared to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.     · The position will requires individuals who are able to adapt and adjust to support objectives.
