Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met. This position is intended for the Software Configuration Management and Development (SwCMD) group within the Control and Information Systems (CIS) section of Department E70 (Propulsion Plant Planning Yard). The incumbent will be trained and supported to become responsible for designing, developing, documenting, testing and debugging software applications. This includes conducting multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops cross-platform applications. Ensures software standards are met. This position regularly communicates with the Navy, NNL, outside vendors, and management/engineers across the PPPY and other NNS departments via email, phone, and meetings.
