This role is responsible for the execution of test activities on operational prototypes for advanced reactor technologies. The role will direct a watch team to prepare for, execute, and restore from tests on high-energy systems during the assembly, commissioning, operational testing, and decommissioning phases. The role will resolve test program problems as they occur, troubleshoot deficiencies, and authorize maintenance on test facility equipment, as well as document and communicate results of test program activities throughout the organization. The role will normally work in a state-of-the-art, semi-industrial test facility, but may work in a general office space during periods of test program planning and/or facility maintenance and downtime. The employee must complete a qualification program prior to directing tests on high-energy prototypes, including fulfilling a qualification card and passing a series of knowledge examinations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to talk, hear, walk, and move consistently throughout the day. The test environment may subject the employee to high temperatures, noises, and vibrations from operating equipment. The employee may be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals. The employee must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds. The employee may be required to work in cramped spaces.
