BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems (BAE SMS) Tactical Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to lead our Radar engineering efforts that deliver advanced radars to our enable our defense (DoD) and intelligence community (IC) customers. We are looking for experienced individual who is prepared to lead our team of professionals who provide advanced engineering and scientific expertise for the development, testing, integration, and maintenance Radar systems. The Chief Engineer will be responsible for the oversight and overall delivery of Radar solutions developed for multiple customer program offices. As the lead engineer the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the overall work effort and products of the engineering and scientific staff over the full lifecycle of programs and projects for engineering, development, integration, deployment, and sustainment. This includes performing systems requirements analysis, functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition, technical management, architecture design, agile development, integration, system testing, and quality assurance. The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions.   • Guide completion of major projects to design, development, testing, manufacturing.
  • Uncover and resolve issues.
  • Represent the project with customers and management.
  • Provide technical leadership for team.
  • Contribute to staffing and resource planning.
  • Consult with colleagues to develop technical strategies connecting several projects and customers.
  • Act as advisor on major projects or technical areas - to both customers and organization.
  • Work with hardware developers to optimize system performance.
  • Execute testing campaigns to validate results.
  • Guide development of system performance models.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company.

  • Perform other duties as necessary.
  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 10 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience.
  • A current, active Top Secret security clearance is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of and Experience with one of more of: Clock distribution, High power RF systems, Radar skills, Calibration techniques, Operational issues, Software/firmware architectures, System development.
  • Ability to write compelling proposals.
  • Design for manufacturing techniques.
  • Technical leaderships - WBS, Lateral management, upward management, teaching.
  • Systems engineering - requirements derivation, management, SRR/PDR/CDR preparations.
