Job SummaryThis position is responsible for: The rotating equipment engineer is responsible to provide technical and maintenance intervention guidance for rotating assets to enhance plant reliability and enable world class manufacturing excellence. In addition to providing guidance, the rotating equipment engineer will act as a subject matter expert in reliability focused studies including root cause analysis (RCA) for blowers, compressors, expanders, gas turbines, steam turbines, centrifuges, conveyors, power transmission components, pumps and other non-stationary mechanical equipment. The position will report to the Reliability Engineering Superintendent as part of the Lima Engineering team.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in chemical plant or similar environment with responsibilities involving process engineering, maintenance, or operations is required.
  • Demonstrated Expertise in Turbomachinery and related equipment is required.
  • Working Knowledge and Understanding of relevant API and ASME codes and recommended practice is required.
  • Knowledge of asset protection and condition monitoring hardware including vibration analysis is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineering Designation preferred.
  • Knowledge of ammonia, urea, and nitric acid manufacturing processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Models Nutrien core values of safety and integrity and leads an inclusive culture in which all team members are actively contributing to a safe work environment by utilizing Nutrien’s culture of care.
  • Supervises coordinates and manages the execution of Maintenance and Engineering projects including selection, design, and procurement of new or modified equipment.
  • Provides coordination and supervision of outside contractors or consultants used to carry out project assignments. May be required to supervise and coordinate major project installations and major equipment repairs during outages or turnarounds.
  • Analyzes rotating equipment deficiencies and/or failures and recommends corrective actions via Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Develop major overhaul scopes for plant equipment based on anticipated repairs, known problems, machinery performance and available downtime. Develop machinery overhaul procedures to ensure the most efficient methods are used.
  • Has primary responsibility for developing long term planning and strategy for effecting optimum reliability and serviceability of the rotating and supporting equipment in the operating plants.
  • Provide both formal and informal training to maintenance and operations personnel as needed to support the efficient and appropriate operation and maintenance of plant equipment.
  • Stays abreast of current technologies in equipment design and operation to implement such technologies where applicable to improve plant reliability and operations.
