About The Position

This position DOES NOT work with software automation or testing frameworks. Position Purpose: This role supports HD Home, an online home décor business that specializes in furniture and décor sourced and shipped directly to customers. The position focuses on quality and packaging optimization, leveraging data to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation across product categories. The ideal candidate is data fluent, strategic, and experienced with online products, packaging, and damage analysis. Responsibilities include analyzing damage, returns, and low-rated products using tools such as Tableau, Google BigQuery, and SQL, and synthesizing insights to drive business decisions. The role requires investigating whether issues stem from packaging or manufacturing processes, managing cross-functional projects, and collaborating with suppliers and internal teams. Candidates should have a background in Mechanical, Industrial, Process, or Quality Engineering, strong data analysis skills, and experience in project management.

Requirements

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
  • Engineering standards development / review / enforcement - min 2 years experience
  • Manufacturing / Operations / Quality Assurance / Quality Control - min 3 years experience
  • Continuous improvement program development and execution (e.g., Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing)
  • Cross functional, multi-project management - min 2 years experience
  • Analysis / Statistics - min 3 years experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or other technical field of study such as engineering or material science
  • International operations experience, supported by foreign language skills (oral and written)
  • Operational experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Computer skills sufficient to retrieve, manipulate, analyze, and interpret data
  • Ability to travel internationally

Responsibilities

  • Assign assessment, test, and inspection work to service providers, based on predetermined selection criteria, a review of all technical requirements, and service provider capabilities.
  • Develop / validate test and inspection plans designed to assure quality of factories and products based on a review of all applicable safety standards (such as American National Standards Institute or Underwriters Laboratories), industry trends, and historical performance data.
  • Monitor and evaluate Private Brand product returns, damages, and voice of customer data in order to implement continuous improvement / CAPA (corrective action preventive action) plans throughout the product life cycle.
  • Integrate supplier factory and product data, and analyze metrics to effectively monitor product quality
  • Evaluate and document cost / benefit trade-offs between prevention, detection, and failure response activities.
  • Support management in the review and resolution of issues with suppliers, factories, service providers, merchandising, store operations, distribution, safety, customers, and other related supply chain components as required.
  • Analyze and interpret assessment, test, and inspection results, determine root cause of failures and non-conformities, and drive continuous improvement and best practices.
