Scope of Position All Quality aspects to continuously improve the quality performance of the organization and the support of all associated systems to achieve world class operation levels. A supporter for the quality team to strengthen existing systems which promote a zero-defect manufacturing process. Be a facilitator and coordinator between Suppliers, Magna internal departments and support groups. A member of our cross functional teams to accomplish team goals while working within the established processes. Be the first responder to supplier and customer concerns and any potential risk to our products or deliveries to customers. Manage the risk through containment, short term countermeasures and other Quality core tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering field recommended or related experience preferred
  • 3 to 5 years experience in quality environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Quality systems and specifications is required.
  • Ability to write clear and concise technical reports
  • Quality Assurance and Quality Control experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Must have working knowledge in the following: PPAP, FMEA, Controls Plan, GD&T, SPC, Gage R & R, Quality Information Systems, Documentation Systems, Measurement System Analysis, Calibration systems, Corrective Action, Preventive Action, data analysis, Computer knowledge, APQP, IATF 2015:16949, Problem solving techniques
  • Must understand Continuous Improvement and Risk Management
  • Have a fundamental understanding of supplier relations and performance.
  • Must be skilled with training of personnel in all levels.
  • Willing to sign up for training when a skillset need to be improved. Self-motivated to learn new skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, proactive, engaged, task driven, highly organized individuals and have experience in various areas of a manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to travel to customers and suppliers. (Local and Abroad)
  • Required to be proactive and suggest improvements to existing processes policies and systems.
  • Required to support manufacturing employees.
  • Must be able to interpret part prints, specifications, or other related documents.

  • Requires extensive tact and communication skills (verbal and written) for direct customer communication. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Must be able to communicate fluently in both written and spoken English
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to create and interpret graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to use problem solving when presented with problems or duties that do not have immediate answers or results.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient on the computer, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Ability to use efficiently SPC software programs.
  • Must be able to relate / communicate well with people at all levels. Ability to use active listening. Ability to give positive and constructive feedback effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Champion the strengthening of quality systems with all departments in the organization.
  • Be able to effectively facilitate workshops and training to plant level personnel.
  • Be able to effectively communicate with customers, peers, and management and plant personnel equally effective (written and verbal).
  • Guide and train all employees on systems and requirements during all phases of a program from quote through end of service life.
  • Support the APQP process for new programs by leading the teams through the proper steps.
  • Maintain documentation and records as required by customers, Magna and governmental regulations.
  • Act as liaison between MPT Shelby Township, customers, suppliers and all departments within the organization.
  • Owner of the PPAP Quality documentation
  • Commitment to our zero-defect policy as well as safety and health in the work environment.
  • Respond to internal and external customer concerns and potential risk to products, Magna, or the customer and manage the situation to minimize any negative impact to Magna, suppliers, and customers.
  • Technical contact for both internal and external customers for any type of product or process concerns
  • Develop, modify, improve, and troubleshoot processes associated with assembly of automotive components.
  • Conducts failure analysis based on structured problem solving and resolution of problems.
  • Takes and maintains ownership of products and processes from launch through PPAP and program closure.
  • Perform audits to automotive standards i.e. (LPA, IATF) as well as internal audits for various areas of the business including implementation of corrective actions. Initiate and lead cost reduction projects.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities, submits improvement suggestions (CI, Safety).
  • Ensure that company policies and procedures are adhered to including IATF16949, ISO 9001, ISO14001 (EMS), the Employee Handbook and other.
  • Follows MIOSHA and MPT Shelby Township safety regulations and policies, including wearing required P.P.E. (Personal Protective Equipment). Reports unsafe conditions to Supervisor/Leader immediately and is active in preventing risk to employees or property.
  • Perform other special project work as directed by the Management Team.
  • Ensure that company policies and procedures are adhered to including Employee Handbook.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities including driving CIP's, submits improvement suggestions (CI, Safety).
  • Responsible for promoting and seeking excellence in all aspects of business.

  • Observe standards for safe conditions as outlined in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OHSA) as well as rules and regulations outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Follows and ensure direct reports follow MIOSHA and MPTSHB safety regulations and policies, including wearing required P.P.E. (Personal Protective Equipment) and lockout/tagout.
  • Commitment to quality and a safe and healthful work environment for all employees. Drive stop and fix safety culture and support "Stop Work Safe" policy.
  • Complies with the designated ISO / 14001 responsibilities related to effective environmental management in accordance with MPT's Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Report any hazards or unsafe conditions in a timely manner.

  • Communicate, monitor and enforce Health and Safety programs and policies.
