The PSA (Probabilistic Safety Assessment) and DSA (Deterministic Safety Analysis) Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of a nuclear power plant. This role involves conducting safety assessments, developing safety models, and providing technical support for safety-related activities, requiring a deep understanding of nuclear safety principles and expertise in probabilistic and deterministic analyses.

  • Conduct probabilistic safety assessments (PSAs) to quantify risks associated with various plant operations and events.
  • Perform deterministic safety analyses (DSAs) to evaluate the behavior of the plant under specific accident conditions.
  • Develop, update, and maintain safety models, including fault trees, event trees, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to incorporate safety considerations into plant design, modifications, and upgrades.
  • Support the licensing process by providing technical documentation and analysis for regulatory submissions.
  • Participate in safety reviews, audits, and inspections conducted by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in nuclear safety.
  • B.S. Degree in Engineering or other scientific discipline / physical science generally associated with power plant operations, or equivalent work experience.
  • Good to excellent communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments.
  • Experience/proficiency in PC use and applications, depending upon engineering level.
  • M.S. Degree in Engineering.
  • Nuclear Power Plant PRA/PSA specific experience preferred.
  • Experience in Saphire, CAFTA, and Phoenix software desired.
  • Desired: SRO license or certification on a PWR or BWR; Professional Engineering license.
