About The Position

The Role Researches, develops, designs, and/or tests components, equipment, systems, and networks in one or more engineering disciplines. May design equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. Applies engineering principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing. Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • 14 years of relevant exempt experience; or a Master's Degree and 12 years of relevant experience; or a Ph.D. and 9 years of experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Final clearance required to start.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a subject matter expert in reactor plant valve engineering.
  • Familiarity with standard Navy valve designs and vendor proprietary valve designs.
  • Experience in the design and/or testing of Naval nuclear propulsion plant systems and components.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles, theory, technology, and tools to analyze and resolve complex engineering problems.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and military/commercial specifications for welding, nondestructive testing, fasteners, and materials.
  • Experience in project management to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and technical writing skills for reports and presentations.
