About The Position

The Production Support Engineer at NBCUniversal is responsible for providing technical support in a live television production environment. This role involves maintaining broadcast production systems, resolving support requests, and collaborating with engineering teams to implement system changes and enhancements. The position requires flexibility in working hours to accommodate production schedules.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Broadcasting, or related fields, or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years recent experience supporting television production, streaming, or master control environments.
• Experience supporting and deploying equipment in a production environment, including video router, production switchers, audio consoles, graphics and video playback systems, studio cameras, video & streaming encoders, and wireless audio systems.
• Strong customer service skills and professionalism.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be willing to work evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays with little or/no notice depending on production schedules.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to provide clear, decisive feedback while being prepared to pivot or change course when appropriate.
• Experience with programming, in one of these languages a plus: Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.
• Experience with systems monitoring tools such as Datadog, Op5, New Relic, etc.
• Demonstrate a dedication to building and maintaining a stable, high-performance technical environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and maintenance of a broadcast production environment consisting of multiple studios and production control rooms.
• Resolve support requests, monitor ticketing systems for new issues and assigned tasks, and perform preventative maintenance as assigned.
• Collaborate with other members of the engineering and technical teams in executing projects, including working with internal stakeholders to create and update configuration documentation, technical SOP's, training materials, etc.
• Support virtualization and cloud initiatives, continuing deployment of virtual production systems both on-premise and in the cloud.
• Maintain production systems by measuring and monitoring availability system health.
