Who we’re looking for Toyota’s Production Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Production Engineer to work in Unit Competitiveness Group. The primary responsibility of this role is to support manufacturing operations of Unit Plants focusing on problem solving, continuous improvement, and collaborative teamwork. The person in this role will support the Production Engineering Department objective to implement engineering solutions related to safety, quality, productivity, and cost focus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) or 3 to 5 years of equivalent work experience.
  • This role will require excellent organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written) to coordinate with Production, Quality, Safety, Maintenance, Facilities, NA PE (North American Production Engineering) and outside vendors in order to ensure all tasks are completed on time per schedule.
  • Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office products. Using computer skills to analyze data and generate reports to present your activity. Data analysis is key to this role.
  • Project management experience with capability to develop, lead, prioritize work, meet milestones, and report out status of project.
  • Ability to perform data analysis on operations KPI’s to target opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience in cost improvement activity.
  • The ability to work overtime up to 25% and travel up to 20% as required for business needs.

Nice To Haves

  • CNC/Automation Machine troubleshooting experience, including PLCs.
  • 2+ years of automotive manufacturing experience in powertrain / drivetrain including HEV motor processing.
  • NAMC (North American Manufacturing Company) experience in Production, PE (Production Engineering), Maintenance, or relevant support group.
  • TBP(Toyota Business Panel) completion (passed panel).
  • 2+ years of data collection and data automation experience.
  • Global cross-functional experience with other global manufacturing centers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage manufacturing support operations and functions related to safety, quality improvements, scrap/repair reductions, tooling / kaizen implementation, cost reduction and meantime between failures (MTBF) improvement.
  • Provide capital and product support, including leading change point management coordination of internal and external resources for the implementation of projects, new equipment installation, model changes, refurbishment of existing equipment, new tooling technologies and other kaizens.
  • Perform Problem Solving utilizing Toyota Business Practice (TBP) to troubleshoot process issues, identify root cause and recommend countermeasures via the creation of a strategy document in order to recommend and implement effective countermeasures to resolve issues, implement kaizens to improve efficiency, reduce costs and effectively meet KPI targets for assigned line.
  • Work in cross-functional groups (including Global Manufacturing Centers) to ensure production processes are capable of producing quality products, within takt time, while meeting Cost targets utilizing thorough root cause analysis, reporting and cooperation with support groups to implement countermeasures; ensuring successful planning and implementation of production, precision measurement, and testing equipment for new projects; to understand daily production problems in processes or part quality, quickly perform root cause analysis, and implement countermeasures
  • Develop new technology or systems to improve the operator’s process. This will include trialing new technology, automations, data collection system, and data analysis to improve operations.
