Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Engineer / Principal Systems Test Engineer . This position is located in Roy, UT or Colorado Springs, CO , and supports the Sentinel program.

Requirements

  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
  • Familiarity with lab equipment (DMMs, O-scopes, Spectrum Analyzers, etc.) and lab processes (ESD, FOD, Configuration Management, etc.)
  • Ability to install software packages and patches
  • Must hold one or more current CompTIA certifications for an IAT Level II (GSEC, Security+ or SSCP) or higher to satisfy DOD 8570-1M requirement
  • Familiarity with COTS network management and configuration systems
  • Ability to effectively communicate issues and help provide solutions across teams / sites.
  • Engineer Systems Test: Bachelor's degree in Science with 2 years of experience or a Master's degree with 0 years of experience. 4 additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree. 2 years of experience operating in an Agile environment using any of the Atlassian software tool sets (JIRA, Confluence) 2 years of experience with HW or SW integration in a lab / test environment 2 years of experience integrating COTS, GOTS and custom software in a security constrained environment 2 years of experience with Linux or Cisco operating systems
  • Principal Engineer Systems Test: Bachelor's degree in Science with 5 years of experience; or Master's degree with 3 years of experience; or PhD with 1 year of experience. 4 additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree. 3 years of experience operating in an Agile environment using any of the Atlassian software tool sets (JIRA, Confluence) 3 years of experience with HW or SW integration in a lab / test environment 3 years of experience integrating COTS, GOTS and custom software in a security constrained environment 3 years of experience with Linux or Cisco operating systems

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to troubleshoot system using built in OS functionality and system logs
  • Perform OS tuning, understand networking, perform user management, perform security hardening, and review OS logs as needed and perform system backups
  • Experience with scripting, particularly in shell scripting. Any experience with SH and CSH variants, Python, or PowerShell would be helpful
  • Experience with the administration and operations of lab or test environments
  • Computer system performance analysis.
  • Experience with vSphere and/or VMware Cloud Foundation
  • Experience with operation, development, or testing of RTOSs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills

Responsibilities

  • Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network, software, and system engineers, project managers, end users, and customer and IT management
  • Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management
  • Integration of IP based devices into networks architecture. Will also support configuration, troubleshooting of devices / network
  • Work within and across teams to support and coordinate daily integration activities
  • Execute root cause analysis to troubleshoot and resolve complex network and system issues
  • Coordinate integrated testing activities.
  • Oversee test activities in support or requirement verification and validation.
