About The Position

The Engineer or Engineering Associate position at Georgia Power involves managing day-to-day engineering activities, including service design, estimating, and coordinating construction for various projects. The role requires superior customer service skills and the ability to prepare and schedule construction jobs to meet service dates. Responsibilities also include writing and executing switching orders, processing documentation for compliance, handling customer inquiries, and participating in on-call trouble supervision for storm restoration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Math, or Science, or a Professional Engineer's License (PE).
  • Previous distribution engineering experience is a plus.
  • Proficient with MS Office and related engineering software systems.
  • Strong technical engineering skills and understanding of power systems.
  • Knowledge of general engineering and construction principles.
  • Familiarity with electrical system operations and construction practices.
  • Prior experience in writing and executing switching orders preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ARMS, JETS, Designer/GIS, and other engineering tools preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the Franchise Manual, Distribution Bulletins, and Engineering Handbook/Specifications.
  • Experience with project management and customer service.
  • Knowledge of NESC.

Responsibilities

  • Handle day-to-day engineering work activities in an assigned area.
  • Design services, estimate costs, and coordinate construction for overhead and underground projects.
  • Prepare and schedule construction jobs to meet committed service dates.
  • Write and execute switching orders for system maintenance and reliability.
  • Process documentation in accordance with compliance requirements.
  • Handle customer inquiries and assist with distribution compliance and asset management programs.
  • Participate in on-call trouble supervision rotation and be available for storm restoration.
