About The Position

Georgia Power is seeking four Engineers or Engineering Associates to handle day-to-day engineering work activities at the Smyrna & Austell Operating Headquarters. The role involves service design, estimating, and coordinating construction for various projects, ensuring superior customer service, and maintaining compliance with documentation requirements. Candidates will also participate in on-call trouble supervision and storm restoration efforts, requiring effective communication and project management skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Math, or Science, or a Professional Engineer's License (PE).
  • Previous distribution engineering experience is a plus.
  • Proficient with MS Office and related engineering software systems.
  • Strong technical engineering skills and understanding of power systems.
  • Knowledge of general engineering and construction principles.
  • Familiarity with electrical system operations and construction practices.
  • Prior experience in writing and executing switching orders is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of various engineering software and tools such as ARMS, JETS, GIS, etc.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the Franchise Manual and Distribution Bulletins.
  • Experience with distribution operating procedures and ARC Flash requirements.
  • Good attitude and ability to provide excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Handle day-to-day engineering work activities in an assigned area.
  • Design services, estimate costs, and coordinate construction for overhead and underground residential projects.
  • Prepare and schedule construction jobs to meet committed service dates.
  • Write and execute switching orders for system maintenance and reliability.
  • Process documentation in accordance with compliance requirements.
  • Handle customer inquiries and assist with distribution compliance and asset management programs.
  • Participate in on-call trouble supervision rotation and be available for storm restoration.
