Are you ready to take your career to the next level? We are seeking talented and motivated Network Professionals to join our team! As the Architecture Network Engineer, you will work with AFSOC Headquarters Team in support of command projects and initiatives. The Network Engineer will serve as the lead expert within the organization. In this role, you will support: Decomposing and refining requirements into technical performance parameters and specifications. Designing terrestrial and non-terrestrial network architectures and standards including LAN, WAN using a wide range of communications and transport mediums. Assisting in the definition of technical feasibility and viability of existing solutions to support emerging requirements and operational needs. Coordinating with stakeholders to ensure awareness of project milestones, capability roadmaps, fielding and release schedules. Managing threshold and objective feature, capability, and use cases to ensure development and delivery of capability solutions are synchronized to meet integrated network architectures and service performance requirements. Forecasting total network lifecycle cost for the project(s) and maintaining/sustaining data and information to support outyear cost forecasting for mission partners. Determining project schedules by studying project plans and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements. Maintaining project schedules by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving impediments and problems. Coordinating amongst various teams in different engineering disciplines to present a unified, integrated network product or network service to project stakeholders. Preparing project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, and recommending actions as it relates to network enterprise architectures and related activities. Defining, generating, and reviewing project requirements documentation. Performing risk management to minimize project risks. Ensuring that project management methodologies used are in line with organizational processes, templates, and formats. Leading (when required) teams through complex network and IT Communications interoperability problems to meet urgent operational needs. Engaging with and managing the work of subcontractor installation companies. Serving as an advocate, owning your services and working to enhance value, operational viability and customer strategy in the areas of network operations, and warfighter effectiveness.

Requirements

  • 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.
  • CCDE or equivalent certification, or equivalent demonstrated job performance, required.
  • Training and experience should include technology outside of the Cisco product line and include experience integrating multiple difference solutions from different vendors at the design level.
  • Must currently possess AT HIRE an active secret security clearance with the US DoD, current within five years, based upon a single scope background investigation (SSBI) or SSBI periodic review.
  • Ability to acquire a TS/SCI Clearance.
  • Proficient knowledge of network engineering, network architecture, and network automation.
  • Experience with configuring, activating, testing, and analyzing network systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Highly desired: previous experience in radio frequency network integration, to include space-based and terrestrial wireless networks.
  • Experience in giving presentations, and engaging senior management.
  • CCNA (CCNP Preferred).
  • Experience with Python script development.
  • Experience with Elasticsearch / Logstash / Kibana.
  • Experience with Linux systems administration.
  • Experience with Windows systems administration.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis and requirements, decomposition of DOD combat communications and control systems and integrate with operations and acquisitions leads to design and implement critical information flows over multi-pathway networks.
  • Designs and plans global, Enterprise-level network systems and services.
  • Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient integrated network solution to meet organizational needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
  • Conducts testing and troubleshooting of network systems and services.
  • Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
  • Develop and manage network service lifecycle activities, including but not limited to cyber compliance, service, and solution related deliverables as needed.
  • Assess proposed changes to network information systems, their environment of operation, and mission needs that could affect system authorizations.
  • Perform deliverable reviews and lead corrective actions to resolve discrepancies.
  • Provide purposeful reviews of network security architecting, design, development, and configuration of information systems.
  • Provide inputs to development teams responsible for designing and developing organizational information systems and upgrading legacy systems as it relates to network design considerations and constraints.
  • Ensure teams are employing best practices when designing and implementing network information systems including system/security engineering principles, secure design, secure architecture, and secure coding techniques and effective testing and reporting processes to validate outcomes.
  • Manage backlog and capability roadmaps.
