About The Position

This role supports medium and high voltage electrical testing and commissioning activities in New Jersey. The candidate will participate in on site electrical testing, commissioning, and diagnostic activities for utility scale and industrial power systems. This role involves preparing test equipment, executing standardized test procedures, documenting results, and supporting senior engineers during complex testing operations. The position requires hands on technical work, electrical background, strong safety awareness, and a willingness to travel to job sites across New Jersey and potentially across the country. Candidates residing in and around New Jersey are preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and safety principles
  • Willingness to perform hands-on field work in outdoor and industrial environments
  • Ability to travel regularly and work flexible schedules based on project needs
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Ability to follow written procedures and verbal instructions
  • Effective communication skills for working with team members and clients
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in electrical testing, utilities, substations, or power systems is preferred but not required
  • OSHA 10/30 or equivalent safety training preferred
  • Ability to travel 75%+

Responsibilities

  • Assist with medium and high voltage field testing and commissioning.
  • Set up, operate, and dismantle field test equipment, power supplies, grounding systems, and support hardware.
  • Perform pre-test inspections, job briefings, and safety checks in accordance with UL procedures
  • Execute assigned test steps under the direction of senior engineers or lead technicians
  • Accurately collect, record, and document field test data and observations
  • Travel to customer sites and work flexible schedules based on testing windows and project needs
  • Maintain compliance with all safety, quality, and security requirements.
  • Assist with test planning by reviewing drawings, specifications, and test procedures
  • Support equipment logistics, mobilization, and demobilization activities
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of test setups and field connections
  • Assist with preparation of field reports and technical summaries
  • Maintain test equipment, tools, and vehicles in safe working condition
  • Participate in training, cross-training, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Interface professionally with clients, site personnel, and subcontractors
