This role involves researching, planning, designing, and developing mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for the production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. The engineer will apply research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines. The Future Submarine Platform Mechanical team is seeking highly skilled and experienced engineers and leaders to join their diverse, dynamic, and dedicated team working across multiple submarine design programs. This position offers a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape critical functions and novel capabilities for the next generation of fast attack submarines. The Future Submarine program supports both SSN(X) and AUKUS attack submarine programs, as well as special projects in the Undersea Warfare program. The mechanical team is responsible for the concept design, development, and execution of complex mechanical systems across the non-propulsion areas of the submarines, including payload launch and recovery, control surfaces, HVAC, chill water, masts, and many others. The successful candidate will team with the customer, vendors, and industry to develop these systems, molding what will become the world’s most advanced and capable submarines.
