About The Position

The role involves analyzing, researching, designing, and developing materials and their related fabrication and application processes to optimize materials for engineering design and application in structures, systems, and subsystems. The candidate will apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop specifications for metallic, non-metallic, and composite materials, as well as processing and quality engineering specifications. Responsibilities include implementing advanced NDT technologies, providing technical support for NDT processes, troubleshooting, and evaluating quality/performance issues. The position may also involve developing and instructing training programs, modifying procedures, and conducting research and development projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • 9 years of relevant exempt experience; or a Master's Degree and 7 years of experience; or a Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding, mechanical or materials engineering degree with NDT knowledge in all methods.
  • Experience in advanced NDT including PAUT, Computed Radiography, and Array Eddy Current.
  • Strong statistical analysis, root cause analysis, and common cause analysis skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to interface with various internal and external customers and management.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, research, design, and develop materials and fabrication processes.
  • Apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior.
  • Develop and optimize specifications for materials and processing.
  • Conduct material analyses including failure analysis and life predictions.
  • Implement advanced NDT technologies and provide technical support.
  • Assist with interpretation and execution of technical specifications.
  • Troubleshoot processes and equipment, and evaluate quality/performance issues.
  • Participate in the development and instruction of training programs.
  • Review customer and company technical specifications.
  • Conduct material selection and research and development projects.
