Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer or Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals to support our E2-D Hawkeye Production . This position is located on site in St. Augustine, FL where we make the industry's most complex manufacturing processes predictable and repeatable. This position is on-site in St Augustine, FL and cannot be performed remotely due to the nature of the role . Manufacturing Engineers for Aeronautics Systems are expected to provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex and difficult problems. They are problem solvers who have the ability to provide results that are innovative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives. We seek Manufacturing Engineers that use a unique skill set that includes a hands-on approach and act as the technical representative voice for the Manufacturing Engineering organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree a nd 1 year of engineering experience in manufacturing, mechanical, or electrical environment , or Masters in STEM and 0 years of experience
  • Experience reading/interpreting electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and/or schematics and symbols.
  • Experience working hands-on in a production assembly environment.
  • Ability to work any shift or extended work week as business need requires.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time at a workstation on a computer or similar device for up to 10 hours / duration of shift.
  • Occasional extended periods of standing, bending, kneeling. Traverse unit/product and operate in manufacturing/production environment to include: tooling, stands, ladders, steps etc. while wearing appropriate PPE, occasionally enter confined space.
  • Ability to be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret level clearance, including Special Access Program within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years engineering experience in manufacturing, mechanical, or electrical environment or Masters in and 3 years engineering experience in manufacturing, mechanical, or electrical environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) degree.
  • Experience with augmented reality modifications.
  • Familiarity in aerospace harness fabrication and/or cable installation.
  • Strong electrical experience and process knowledge in aerospace manufacturing.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting Blueprints and/or 3-D models.
  • Experience creating MES Work Instructions.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and/or SAP knowledge.
  • Experience providing innovative techniques focused on improving product designs and tooling assemblies or equipment.
  • Experience with developing enhancement processes that improve production shop floor efficiencies and root cause corrective actions.
  • Active Secret DoD clearance/Program Access.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Design Engineering, Production, Tool Design Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Quality organizations to identify process, drawing incorporations, and tooling requirements to support current and new production.
  • Generate and maintain/revise various Manufacturing Engineering Documentation.
  • Identify manufacturing processes and specialty tooling requirements to improve efficiency, quality, and ergonomics in production operations.
  • Provide technical liaison assistance to production personnel to troubleshoot or provide clarification on various build process es and tool related problems.
  • Identify, specify, and analyze usage of production perishables and consumable requirements addressed by documentation being used for production work instructions.
  • Investigate and provide solutions to support nonconformance repair procedures.
  • Research, develop, and provide process training as required.
  • Support site safety initiatives related to manufacturing processes.
  • I nterface/communicate with multiple levels of leadership, clients, and vendors.
