About The Position

The Automation Engineer at Weidmann Electrical Technology is responsible for enhancing manufacturing processes and computer systems through the design, development, and implementation of automation solutions. This role focuses on improving safety, quality, on-time delivery, and cost efficiency within the facility, while ensuring compliance with various ISO standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • Degree in electrical, mechanical, computer engineering, or related field.
  • 5 years of manufacturing or automation experience.
  • Experience with robotics, AI, machine learning, vision systems, and automation (preferred).
  • Project management experience with MS Project and SharePoint.
  • Proficient in CAD (AutoCAD preferred).
  • Familiar with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and conduct system tests.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma and analytics tools.
  • Creative, collaborative, and tech-savvy.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Good dexterity and understanding of product/process attributes.
  • Strong communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with robotics, AI, machine learning, vision systems, and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9000, ISO 14001, and ISO 18001 standards.
  • Develop, test, and implement new automation systems to improve production.
  • Create product justification reports using quality data, time studies, ergonomic assessments, and employee data.
  • Identify and prioritize manufacturing process improvements and develop actionable plans.
  • Manage projects by tracking progress, monitoring equipment, and analyzing methods.
  • Encourage teamwork and cooperation within project groups.
  • Identify, evaluate, and resolve equipment problems.
  • Promote a safe work environment through ongoing training and safety policy compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance to upgrade existing equipment.
  • Communicate, document, and train employees on procedures and operating practices.
  • Educate employees on equipment use and OSHA safety procedures.
  • Stay updated on professional skills through workshops and industry publications.
  • Ensure safety standards are followed during the installation or updating of automation equipment.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
