The Engineer II position is the intermediate level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees in the Engineer II position solve complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with general supervision. An Engineer II is expected to develop advanced skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. An Engineer II effectively applies fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is fairly complex and varied. The Engineer III position solves complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with limited supervision. An Engineer III is expected to develop advanced skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. An Engineer III effectively applies fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is progressively complex and varied. This position is a transmission line project engineer who performs various engineering activities associated with the design and installation of electrical transmission facilities for Duke Energy. The position activities include designing and routing transmission lines, reviewing engineering studies, proposals and programs, analyzing and designing structures and foundations, performing strength and electrical calculations, and preparing design documents, technical specifications, cost estimates and bills of material associated with the installation of electrical transmission line facilities.
