ENSCO, Inc. is seeking an Engineer (Level 1) to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Air Traffic Organization (ATO) NAS Enterprise Services Group (AJW-17) in providing security engineering services for the National Airspace System (NAS). This position will assist in the engineering, integration, and sustainment of systems and networks that support FAA communications and ensure the safety, reliability, and security of NAS operations. The selected candidate will work under the guidance of senior engineering staff to assist with requirements definition, system analysis, integration, and testing for both emerging and legacy NAS systems. Responsibilities include supporting system performance assessments, participating in technical interchange meetings, assisting with the preparation of engineering documentation, and ensuring system configurations comply with FAA standards. The role will also contribute to the implementation of configuration management practices, maintenance of technical records, and preparation of reports and briefings for stakeholders. Additional duties include collaborating with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, supporting network engineering tasks, and assisting in the development and execution of plans for system transitions and upgrades.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering field (systems, electronic, avionics, computer, etc.) (may be substituted for 5 years of relevant experience)
  • 20+ years of experience (Master's Degree may substitute for 3 years; PhD may substitute for 7 years)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead requirements definition, system design, integration, and testing activities across the full lifecycle of enterprise IT and security systems
  • Proven experience directing system performance assessments, risk analyses, and technical evaluations for large-scale federal programs
  • Ability to guide secure system integration strategies
  • Extensive experience with configuration management (CM) processes, including establishing CM baselines, conducting audits, and maintaining technical documentation
  • Expertise in network engineering and planning, with the ability to evaluate impacts of system changes, ensure compliance with FAA standards, and develop secure architecture transition strategies
  • Ability to provide authoritative guidance on federal cybersecurity and engineering compliance requirements, including NIST standards and acquisition processes
  • Strong technical leadership skills with a proven record of mentoring engineers, guiding cross-functional teams, and advising senior FAA leadership on engineering and security strategies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and engineering tools; experience with collaboration platforms such as MS Teams, SharePoint, and Jira/Confluence
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to prepare executive-level briefings, technical reports, and stakeholder presentations
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)

  • Experience working with the FAA ATO
  • Prior involvement in GAO, OIG, or DHS audits and remediation activities
  • Prior experience supporting FAA NAS systems or other large-scale, mission-critical federal infrastructures
  • Familiarity with FAA Acquisition Management System (AMS), federal procurement processes, and engineering governance frameworks
  • Familiarity with emerging cybersecurity practices and technologies (e.g., Zero Trust, secure cloud integration, or supply chain risk management)
  • Active Secret security clearance
