About the position

The position involves responding to and attending to guest repair requests, communicating with guests to resolve maintenance issues, and performing preventive maintenance on tools and equipment. Responsibilities include visually inspecting tools and equipment, carrying necessary equipment, identifying and operating shut-off valves, maintaining inventory, and communicating daily activities and problems to other shifts. The role requires thorough knowledge of building systems, emergency response, and documentation, as well as advanced engineering operations skills and general mechanical ability. The candidate must demonstrate expertise in at least three areas such as air conditioning, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and energy conservation, and be skilled in the safe use of hand and power tools. The position also involves performing complex repairs, routine inspections, and using the Lockout/Tagout system for maintenance work. The candidate will need to train and mentor other engineers, perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, and adhere to company policies and safety procedures. The role requires maintaining a professional appearance, developing positive working relationships, and performing physical tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to and attend to guest repair requests.
  • Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines.
  • Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and utility shut-offs.
  • Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
  • Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts.
  • Display knowledge of building systems and emergency response.
  • Perform routine inspections of the property and take corrective action.
  • Inspect and repair mechanical equipment including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing components.
  • Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing maintenance work.
  • Train and mentor other engineers as necessary.
  • Perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities.
  • Follow all company and safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Certificate in two-year technical diploma program for HVAC/refrigeration.
  • Extensive experience and training in general maintenance, electrical or refrigeration.
  • At least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • License or certification in refrigeration or electrical.
  • Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification.
  • Must meet applicable state and federal certification and/or licensing requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in supervisory roles is preferred but not required.
