The Industrial Engineer establishes and maintains process frameworks that support model-based systems engineering practices while optimizing resource utilization and operational efficiency at X-energy.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive process frameworks for engineering operations, including model-based systems engineering workflows within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Lead process optimization initiatives using advanced operations research techniques and data analytics.
  • Design and implement production planning and control systems, including capacity planning and resource allocation, production scheduling and sequencing, inventory management systems, material flow optimization, and quality control processes.
  • Conduct industrial system simulation studies to model and analyze production processes, evaluate alternative process designs, optimize facility layouts and material handling systems, and validate process improvements.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using structured methodologies to identify and eliminate waste in processes, standardize work procedures, implement pull systems and visual management, and establish process control methods.
  • Develop and maintain advanced analytics systems for process performance monitoring, quality metrics tracking, resource utilization analysis, and predictive maintenance planning.
  • Create and implement standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Design and optimize supply chain processes including supplier integration methods, inventory optimization models, logistics network design, and material handling systems.
  • Collaborate with training teams to develop and deliver process training programs.
  • Write and review engineering documentation, reports, and communicate technical details and project progress to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Perform work in accordance with X-energy quality assurance procedures.
  • Always maintain professional demeanor and behavior in all forms of communication.
  • Lead the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities without close supervision and some latitude for independent judgment.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to more junior team members with the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities.
  • Lead small groups of engineers to solve complex technical problems and deliver high quality engineering work products on time and within budget.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, or other engineering related discipline from an ABET accredited institution required.
  • Typically, ten years of experience in an engineering role.
  • A master's degree in engineering or related field may be in lieu of two years of experience.
  • A Ph.D. in engineering or related field may be in lieu of three years of experience.
  • Previous experience at X-energy exceeding performance standards may be in lieu of years of experience.
  • Experience and/or knowledge in Operations Research & Data Analytics including linear and integer programming, simulation modeling and analysis, statistical process control, design of experiments, and machine learning and predictive analytics.
  • Experience in Process Optimization including lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies (Black Belt preferred), continuous improvement techniques, value stream mapping, and process capability analysis.
  • Experience in Production & Logistics including production planning and control, inventory management systems, supply chain optimization, facility layout and design, and material handling systems.
