About The Position

PURPOSE The Engineer, under general supervision, designs, implements, and troubleshoots Network/VoIP solutions based upon business requirements. This includes but is not limited to configuring routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, wireless access points / controllers, SD-WAN appliances in break/fix and new deployment scenarios. This position is responsible for ensuring the BFS Network/VoIP systems remain online and functional. Additionally, the position acts as an escalation point to the network operations center and associate network engineers for resolution of Network/VoIP related issues. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs day-to-day administration of the network infrastructure. Acts as an escalation point to associate engineers and the network operations center. Installs new hardware, systems, and software for network and/or security components, under some guidance, coordinates with local site contacts. Under some guidance, assists with the evaluation of new and emerging technologies to support the networking needs of business initiatives. Audits and documents activities for all design, implementation, and deployment scenarios. Provides input regarding processes and procedures that will enhance effectiveness.Configures routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, wireless access points / controllers, LTE routers, and SD-WAN appliances in break/fix and new deployment scenarios. Identifies training needs, coordinates training, and participates in the development of training materials. Leads troubleshooting for network and services performance at remote locations. Implements performance tuning. Performs root cause analysis of problems and tracks, documents and reports identified patterns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
  • 2+ years relevant work experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of routing and switching.
  • Intermediate knowledge of data center technologies both private and public cloud.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SD-WAN solutions.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) – Or equivalent knowledge/experience.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
