The position involves assisting design/production engineers with multiple tasks involving the systems (communications) engineering functions at Frontline Communications in Clearwater, FL.

  • Prepare vehicle component layouts using CAD software i.e., AutoCAD.
  • Select parts or components for quality conscious design, i.e., weight, cost, reliability, and ease of manufacturing.
  • Follow project on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot, or production build and provide technical assistance.
  • Consult with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to find solutions to problems.
  • Perform or assist in the testing of complete vehicles or vehicle components.
  • Design, model, and test new communication systems components related to audio, video, network, and radio communications that integrate with a vehicle.
  • Update bill of materials to reflect product changes.
  • Set up and configure IP addresses, serial communication, etc. in mobile command centers.
  • All other duties or projects as assigned.
  • Student working towards a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or other related engineering field for entire duration of internship.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in extracurricular activities outside academic requirements.
  • Previous internship experience or work-related experience.
  • Experience using AutoCAD or DraftSight is a plus.
  • Fundamental knowledge of networking and subnetting is desirable.
  • Previous experience or heightened interest in communications systems design.
