About The Position

The Engineering Intern position is an entry-level role within the Road department, reporting to the Project Team Leader or Project Manager. The intern will be responsible for assisting in various engineering tasks, including design calculations, quantity calculations, cost estimates, and plan preparation, all under supervision. The role requires coordination with other internal departments and the ability to meet deadlines while maintaining confidentiality regarding client and company information.

Requirements

• Working to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent
• Successful completion of transportation coursework, preferred
• Able to work independently with instruction
• Possess strong communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills required to work in a 'team' concept
• Able to work on multiple projects at once
• Proficient with a computer and familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Projects, and ACAD software
• Detail oriented
• Possess a valid Indiana driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Prepare various components design calculations with oversight
• Prepare various components of quantity calculations with oversight
• Prepare various components of cost estimates with oversight
• Prepare various components of plans with oversight
• Work and coordinate with other internal departments
• Assist in assembling Supplements, Proposals, and Engineer’s Reports
• Meet deadlines
• Alert Project Team Leaders immediately upon realization of a problem on a project
• Maintain the confidentiality of information regarding our clients and company practices
• Perform other duties as assigned
