About The Position

Plant Systems Integration engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on a unique approach, mindset, and process. All integration activities consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the user’s needs. Plant Integration executes a robust process of conceptualization, design, and optimization of systems. This consists of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs, and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Plant Integration is an essential function that proceeds from concept to production to operation. Plant Integration impacts departmental operations and is responsible for planning and execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Relocation to Wilmington, NC is required.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
  • Ability and Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time both Domestic and International.

Nice To Haves

  • 0-2 years of experience in an engineering capacity, preferably in nuclear power.
  • Strong communicator with excellent writing and verbal skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop skillset in customer/partner facing environment.
  • Ability to develop skillset and experience in commercial nuclear power generation, specifically boiling water reactors.
  • Developing knowledge of BWRX-300
  • Ability to develop experience integrating highly technical and diverse engineering teams and functions.
  • Cross-functional collaboration experience.
  • Knowledge of working within a regulated environment (nuclear).
  • Strong facilitation skills.
  • Ability to drive initiatives and impromptu efforts.
  • Knowledge of quality standards and systems (e.g., NQA-1 and ISO 9000).
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Prior experience in project delivery and working within a matrix environment.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and cope under pressure.
  • Master or doctoral degree in an engineering or technical discipline may be considered a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop into skilled and experienced integrations engineer on the BWRX-300
  • Conducts overall product, system, and component integration activities. All design and deployment activities are concerned with how to integrate in order to deliver the best product(s) for the user.
  • Conducts activities with product and system requirements, plant-level specifications, and design requirement flow down.
  • Facilitates and drives interface between multiple areas of the organization including Project, Product, Engineering, Sales, Licensing, etc.
  • Develop knowledge of best practices and how different areas integrate with others
  • Uses judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated challenges with technical variety
  • Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and external sources outside of Plant Integration team to arrive at decisions.
