About The Position

The HM&E Systems Engineering Group is responsible for the integration, design, maintenance, test, and overhaul of the ship’s primary communication systems. The group’s primary role is to serve as the lead engineering design agent for VIRGINIA Class design ICS system projects. The group also has considerable involvement with various NAVSEA program offices to support submarine design and manufacturing. Engineers in this group are involved with various portions of the entire submarine design life cycle: from new technology development, to research and development, prototyping, design integration, and fleet support. Position will be on-site in New London, CT.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or higher in Engineering
  • 0-5 years of postgraduate engineering experience
  • Must be able to travel up to 10%
  • Must have the ability to multi-task and manage technical projects
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to reflect on failures and improve
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting of complex systems
  • Self-motivating and able to comprehend complex systems
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel
  • Technical ability to convey and work complex, multi-faceted tasks
  • Organization skills to develop and maintain long term task plans
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Masters of Science in Systems Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Project Management or Systems Engineering experience
  • Proficiency with MS Project
  • Knowledge of the Rickover Principles
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams, multitasking, and task ownership
  • Active DOD security clearance
