About The Position

Toyota's North America Safety Department is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Industrial Hygienist for the Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina (TBMNC) facility. This facility, which is the company's first automotive battery plant globally, will serve as the hub for developing and producing lithium-ion batteries for an expanding portfolio of electrified vehicles. The plant is set to come online in 2025 and will feature 14 production lines, including four dedicated to Hybrid Electric Vehicles and ten for Battery Electric Vehicles and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles. The Industrial Hygienist will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Company health and safety regulations, supporting the Toyota Safety Department's objective to prioritize safety through standardization and achieve the best safety performance in an incident-free workplace. In this role, the Industrial Hygienist will lead, support, and drive safety initiatives within the Industrial Hygiene program. Responsibilities will include conducting exposure assessments, selecting and recommending appropriate controls such as engineering solutions, management strategies, training, and personal protective equipment. The position also involves quantitative monitoring and sampling for chemical, physical, and biological stressors, reviewing plans and procedures, and assisting in the design specifications to ensure the implementation of approved industrial hygiene practices. Additionally, the Industrial Hygienist will investigate overexposures, accidents, and deviations from approved practices, providing input to hazardous material communications and managing all Industrial Hygiene-related internal company requirements.
