Position Summary The Engineer in Training (EIT) will support our Mechanical and Plumbing engineering team on complex construction projects. This role is ideal for a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate who is eager to gain hands-on experience in system design, construction coordination, and project execution while working closely with mid-level and senior engineers. Location: Cypress, CA

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar area of study.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Working knowledge or experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks and/or Autodesk Build / Procore.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support mid-level and senior engineers with system sizing, load calculations, equipment selection, specifications, and engineering plan production in compliance with company standards.
  • Assist the Professional Engineer with system calculations and design efforts.
  • Prepare drawings and project details under the direction of a Professional Engineer.
  • Create project-specific budgets, including labor and material cost estimates.
  • Perform material take-offs and assist with estimating.
  • Analyze subcontractor proposals and assist with subcontract preparation under Project Manager supervision.
  • Route and obtain approvals for subcontractor and material invoices.
  • Coordinate and review Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and high-risk activities with the Safety Director and construction teams.
  • Create, track, and manage RFI, Submittal, and Change Order logs.
  • Maintain master drawing sets, logs, and project documentation.
  • Monitor and log third-party testing, site access, and logistics plans.
  • Assist with material deliveries and field coordination.
  • Identify field issues and propose practical, cost-effective alternatives.
  • Analyze problems and develop realistic, timely solutions while considering risk and cost impacts.
  • Maintain accurate project records in document control and site management systems.
