About The Position

Buchart Horn is seeking an Engineer-in-Training to join our Water Resources Strategic Business Unit. This entry-level role is designed for a recent graduate or early-career engineer who is eager to build a strong technical foundation while supporting meaningful water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Working alongside experienced engineers and designers, you will contribute to projects that support water and wastewater treatment, pumping, collection, and distribution systems. This position offers hands-on experience across planning, design, and construction support while providing mentorship and a clear path toward professional licensure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline from an ABET-accredited program
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or successful completion of the FE exam within one year of hir
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Revit or BIM tools
  • Strong communication skills, curiosity, and a desire to learn and grow within a collaborative team

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to hydraulic modeling software such as WaterGEMS or SewerGEMS is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering principles to assist with the planning and design of water and wastewater systems
  • Support studies and analyses such as needs assessments, capacity evaluations, modeling, and environmental reviews
  • Assist with process design for treatment facilities, pumping stations, and collection and distribution systems
  • Prepare and review drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and technical documentation
  • Support construction phase activities including shop drawing reviews, RFIs, site visits, and inspections
  • Assist with data collection, permitting support, and field activities as required
  • Follow quality control procedures and ensure compliance with corporate standards and project requirements
