About The Position

The Construction Electrical Engineer III plays a critical role in supporting the construction and commissioning activities of Power Generation projects, including Simple Cycle (SC), Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT), and Combined Heat and Power (CCHP) systems in both Multi-Shaft and Single-Shaft configurations. Reporting to the Senior Technical Support Engineer within the Project Support Management Group, this position coordinates with Engineering, Technical Field Advisors (TFAs), Vendors, Suppliers (internal and external), and Contractors at the project site. The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge of construction, commissioning, and start-up processes, along with a certified field engineering background in electrical systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering or Engineering technology.
  • 7–10 years of related experience in power generation or electrical field engineering.
  • Experience with project scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or similar preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO procedures and OSHA safety requirements is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a high level of independence and responsibility in managing complex construction and commissioning tasks.
  • Travel to domestic and international project sites up to 20% annually as required.
  • Evaluate and apply engineering methods and techniques to develop electrical installation and commissioning procedures.
  • Implement standard engineering criteria and exercise independent judgment with moderate supervision.
  • Review and analyze electrical engineering designs, including single-line, schematic, and connection diagrams, protection schemes, equipment tree line diagrams, load lists and related documents.
  • Evaluate AC/DC system designs and develop standard installation and commissioning procedures for power plant equipment.
  • Possess strong technical knowledge of main power plant electrical components, including power and distribution transformers, control and current transformers, generators and Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVR), static frequency converters, generator protection panels, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of gas turbine control systems, speed governors, instrumentation loops, and auxiliary turbine equipment—critical for successful project execution.
  • Ensure electrical system designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Coordinate technical support for field engineers, including material and equipment specifications, and review Project Action Requests (PARs).
  • Apply and interpret codes, standards, and customer design requirements to prepare electrical erection and commissioning procedures, specifications, and system descriptions.
  • Conduct document reviews and design verifications to ensure completeness and accuracy of deliverables. Manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment built on trust, communication, innovation, and teamwork.
  • Coordinate with Mitsubishi site teams, suppliers, quality teams, and contractors to ensure proper installation and commissioning of electrical systems.
